Before your visit:
You should expect a phone call 24-48 hours prior to your interview. This is to inform you on who your advocate will be that day, go over parking, and answer any questions you may have about your case.
When you get here:
Our street address is 38 Summer Street, Barre Vermont, 05641. We are the white house with a sign similar to the logo at the bottom of the screen. Ring the door bell and someone from your team will be with you shortly. We have meter street parking and urge visitors to park on the street. Please do not come before your scheduled time, during this time your team is meeting about your appointment. If you happen to realize you will be early there are shops you can visit on Main street, the next street over.
During your visit:
When you get to the CAC, you will be greeted and shown to the waiting room while the investigative team assembles and prepares for the interview. You and the child will be offered a snack or beverage and shown where the bathroom is. We have coloring books available in the waiting room and toys in the playroom, along with some children's book you can feel free to read to your child. A forensic interviewer will introduce themselves to you and the child.
When the child is in the interview, an advocate will meet with you to provide resources and assess needs for information and referrals to other services.
Once the child’s interview is complete, the investigative team will meet with you to discuss next steps.
After the interview:
After the interview, the child will be offered a snack. Our staff can provide you with a school note or work note as needed.
A week or two after the child completes the interview at the CAC, the advocate will reach out to check in on any referrals or services you may still need help with. Also, members of the investigative team may be in contact to let you know their next steps. If you have any questions after your visit to the center, you can call the CAC (802-622-0821) and ask to speak to Jess.
